Mobile North Carolina Sports Betting is being Stuck In Legislative Traffic

North Carolina’s athletic betting bill, SB 688 will likely not make it past the House this year. However supporters are still hopeful that they can get their legislation passed before next session begins in January 2019
The North Carolina General Assembly has been deadlocked over redistricting and whether to pass a budget or continue without one because of major disagreements between Democrats who want more spending on social programs like education at the expense of tax cuts for corporations while also Republicans wanting lower taxes than what Governor Roy Cooper proposed last month putting time constraints onto any further progress with sports gambling lawmaking.

North Carolina sports betting basics – The bill creates 10 to 12 mobile licenses and an 8% tax on revenue. Professional teams could set up areas for bettors, including at locations such as: Carolina Panthers; Carolina Hurricanes; Charlotte Hornets.

The Department of Commerce will start in the House Commerce Committee, where it’s expected to be heard by chair John Sauls. The earliest hearing date has not been confirmed but if passed out of committee then this bill could move on for passage into either Judiciary or Budget committees before making waves at Governor’s desk next year!

The only thing better than a win on the field, is gambling with it.

Sports betting supporters hopeful that SB 688 has enough bipartisan support to pass Lobbyist Ches McDowell is optimistic the legislation will continue making its way through committee and onto Governor Brown’s desk. He works with major sports leagues including NBA, PGA Tour Baseball (MLB), NFL are just some of what he does for our state each day.”

The North Carolina legislature has passed a bill that authorizes sports betting at two casinos owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The first casino, which was opened earlier this year with Caesars Sportsbook branding for William Hill’s Harrah’s branded locations in 2020.
