Overview of SportBet SportsBook

SportBet Sportsbook Review: Odds, Casino & More

Technically, SportBet has been around for years. In fact, it was founded way back in 1999. It’s fully licensed and regulated in Costa Rica, it accepts Bitcoin, and it has an online casino to go alongside its sportsbook.

However, because it’s located in Costa Rica, it doesn’t have an official license as such. Don’t let that deter you, though, because SportBet is still a legit sports betting site that’s available in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

The key to its popularity is the fact that it’s known as a crypto sportsbook that accepts most cryptocurrencies.

Things To Consider Before Signing Up

Before you sign up for any sports betting site, there are a few things you need to consider first:

  • User interface – The key to a good experience is an exemplary user interface that’s clean, neatly organized, easy to navigate, and which loads quickly
  • Sports variety – All sports betting sites pretty much cover the major leagues, but some do better than others when it comes to niche sports. Make sure a sportsbook has your preferred sports
  • Casino – Again, all the best sportsbooks have a casino. But it’s still a good idea to make sure a sportsbook has a good game selection, a good user interface, and good gameplay
  • Payment options – It always helps if a sportsbook has our preferred payment method
  • Bonuses and promotions – Enticing bonuses and promos enhance the fun and enjoyment of betting, so check to see what’s on offer
  • Customer service – What’s the customer service generally like? Are live chat, telephone, and email support available? How responsive is the team?

SportBet Broken Down: What’s It Got?

Sports Variety

SportBet is committed to providing sports bettors with a good (if not spectacular) range of sports to bet on. More than 20 sports are offered here, including all the major ones, such as soccer, cricket, football, baseball, basketball, and hockey.

You’ll also find a decent line-up of niche sports, including rugby, volleyball, cricket, and motorsports.

However, it’s with the markets and betting options that SportBet shows its strengths. Sometimes, there are as many as dozens of markets on the bigger games, such as English Premier League football. That puts SportBet right up there with some of the biggest sportsbooks.

Betting options, meanwhile, are super varied. For instance, for the average soccer match, you can bet on the likes of total goals, over/under, corners, cards, first goalscorer, and more.

As well as sports, SportBet lets you bet on entertainment, such as reality TV shows, politics – and even competitive eating! Novelty bets are available for the big sporting events, including the Super Bowl, and I have to say that I’ve rarely seen a sportsbook come close to rivaling SportBet when it comes to betting options.

Odds

The odds are available in decimal format. This won’t be an issue for American bettors, but it might put off those who are used to fractional odds.

Other than that, SportBet offers mostly competitive odds for their hundreds of markets. The only issue I found was that they have a tendency to suspend odds and markets during in-play. This often seems random and arbitrary, and it can frustrate you if you weigh up a bet – and suddenly, it’s taken off the market for a few minutes.

Live Betting

One of the things I always look out for when weighing up a betting site is its live betting action. SportBet not only offers live betting, but they also do it better than many other sites.

What makes it so great?

For one thing, they actually offer up-to-date live statistics and data. This sort of thing is essential to a good live betting experience as it means you know exactly what’s happening during a game. As such, you can place better, more informed bets.

However, SportBet doesn’t yet offer live streaming of any of their sporting events. Whether this will change sometime in the future remains to be seen.

As a bonus, there is absolutely nothing buggy about the in-play action, and site speed is good.

Casino

SportBet has an online casino, and it’s just as popular as the sportsbook. In fact, many gamblers often sign up to SportBet first and foremost for the casino.

Why?

One of the reasons is that it uses software provided by some of the biggest names in the online gaming world. These include RealTime Gaming, Digital Gaming Solutions, GameTime Software, and BetSoft.

SportBet have also given their casino its own name – the Grand Casino. Moreover, just a quick glance at the casino is enough to tell you that this is a slick and professional online casino. It’s also really easy to access too – you just need to click the casino menu at the top.

All the popular games are here, including blackjack variants, Baccarat, roulette variants, as well as live dealer games and poker games. You’ll also find a huge selection of slots, including the likes of Atlantis World, Three Kings, Kitty Twins, Golden Legend, 88 Wishes, Wizard of Gems, and ThunderBird.

SportBet’s casino offers jackpot slots for you to play as well, and these come with massive progressive jackpots that give you the opportunity to win a small fortune. Jackpot Casino games include Red Dog, Oasis Poker, Draw Hi-Low, Ride’em Poker, Zoom Roulette, and Triple Edge Poker.

There is also a large selection of gold casino and bonus casino games, giving you even more chances to win money.

Poker is, of course, available, too, but it’s really disappointing that there is practically zero poker traffic. For anyone who signs up to a sportsbook for poker, you may want to look elsewhere.

Table limits, meanwhile, vary. The minimum limit at the moment is just $1, while the maximum limit seems to be $5k per hand. However, if you do some more digging, you might be able to find a higher limit.

The only disappointing aspect of the casino is the lack of bonuses and promos.

User Layout

SportBet has stuck with convention when it comes to their user layout. This means that everything is exactly where you expect to find it on your average sports betting site. For example, the list of sports is located in the left-hand column, whilst all the live sporting action is plastered in the middle of your screen.

Your bet slip, meanwhile, is located to the right-hand side, while the other key menus, such as the casino and your banking options, are located at the top.

All in all, though, some sports bettors would prefer it if the user interface was more up-to-date. It’s dated and looks as though it hasn’t been given a makeover for the last ten years. Some of the graphics can seem sluggish and antiquated, too, and this can lend itself to the overall average user experience.

Mobile Experience

Like all the best sportsbooks these days, you can access SportBet on your mobile. However, whilst some sites offer a poor mobile user experience, SportBet offers a really good one.

The key to a good mobile experience is good site speed, easy navigation, and big, large text and buttons that allow you to check the markets and place your bets without any hassle. This is precisely what you get on SportBet mobile. The mobile version is responsibly designed and works just as well as the desktop version.

However, one glaring flaw is that some of the desktop casino games are missing. You also can’t play poker on the mobile version of SportBet.

Customer Support

Customer support at SportBet is good. If you’ve got a problem that you want to sort out as soon as possible, you can contact the team via the live chat window, which seems to be available 24/7. If you’re in an even bigger hurry and want to talk to someone on the phone, you can telephone SportBet. It’s unclear whether this service is available round-the-clock.

If you’re not in a massive hurry, you could also send the customer service team an email or contact them on their Facebook or Twitter page.

I found the customer service team responsive, friendly, and helpful.

Payment Options

SportBet offers a variety of payment options, but it’s not always clear what these are. This is because it seems that payment methods are not limited to those that are listed in your account. If you want to use a different method, you can contact the team.

Other than that, the payment options that you can see in your account are paper checks, transfers, money orders, and credit cards. There doesn’t seem to be any limits on how much you deposit, but the minimum cash out is $50. The maximum is $10,000.

Withdrawals typically take between 24 and 48 hours to process, but it really depends on what method you use. Bear in mind there are withdrawal fees, but again it depends on the method. However, they can be as high as $80, so you’ll need to watch out for that.

Bonuses and Promotions

  • Welcome bonus – As a new player, you get rated to a 100% match deposit bonus up to $500.
  • 30% super saver bonus – As a new player, you get -107 pricing on the major American sports (baseball, basketball, hockey, and football) and specific bet types, such as halves, money lines, and totals. This super saver bonus is one of the best sign up bonuses around.
  • Free play/lotto bonus – Available to new players, this bonus is split 50/50 between as much as $520 worth of free in-play bonuses and a 50% match play casino reward that’s worth as much as $125.

What Are Others Saying About SportBet?

For the sake of fairness and transparency, I like to take a look at what other customers are saying about the sportsbooks I review.

SportBet is concerned; the general view is that the casino is one of the best things. Customers are also pleased with the easy withdrawal process:

SportBet FAQ: Your Questions Answered

SportBet is just as safe as any of the major sportsbooks, despite the fact that it’s licensed and regulated in Costa Rica. It’s been around for over two decades, and in my research, I didn’t find any negative press associated with or any history of data breaches.

Yes. SportBet is one of the few betting sites that accepts a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and LiteCoin.

SportBet is predominantly aimed at the Australian and U.S betting market, but it’s available in a select few other countries, too. However, it’s not available in the UK. For a full list of the available countries, check the website.

SportBet Sportsbook Review: Final Word

All in all, SportBet is a legitimate, solid sportsbook. The promotions are good, as is sports variety, and there isn’t a lot wrong with the site itself. The only reason I can see for not giving it a go is if you enjoy playing poker. This is not a good place for online poker.
